TOGETHERWEB  (acquired by Proficient Systems)

TogetherWeb Inc. was founded in late 1999 by three Georgia Tech alumni, Rick Hargett, Kirk Bauer and Bill Thomasson.  We knew each other through our common hobby of Skydiving.  TogetherWeb provided online customer service software that allowed customer service representatives to see exactly what an online customer was looking at (syncing browsers), actually browse with a customer through a sale or to the correct information, and interact with the customer through online chat.  TogetherWeb joined the ATDC* as an emerging technology company in 2000. *ATDC = Advanced Technology Development Center, a not for profit technology incubator on the Georgia Tech campus.  Companies such as Mindspring (merged with Earthlink) have come out of the ATDC.  Click Here for more information about the ATDC.

TogetherWeb Team, Spring 2000 at our first makeshift office...
Left-to-Right: Nick Downey, Kirk Bauer, Bill Thomasson (sitting), Rick Hargett, Jeff Jones, Jamie Graves.  Stephen Wong had joined us by this time, but he must have still been in class at GT at the time of the picture.

This makeshift office was a studio loft at Peachtree Lofts in midtown Atlanta.  This was something like 600 sq. ft. which includes a full kitchen and bathroom.  Things were cramped with seven of us working there!  Thanks to Brian Atkins for allowing us to use the space.  Notice the desks made out of salvaged solid core doors mounted on 4x4 posts and 2 drawer filing cabinets (the deadbolt/doorknob holes make great wiring conduits).   These make great desks...  I wish I could fit a 7' door in my current home office.  I still have a couple of the doors in my garage.

The two pictures below were taken by photographer Gary Meek at our offices at the Advanced Technology Development Center on the Georgia Tech campus.

George P. Burdell worked for a time at TogetherWeb.  He had his own phone extension and voicemail, but was very bad about returning phone calls.  IBM was always trying to get his attention...
